A new medium needs time to become established. It was not until around 1500 that books took on the form that we recognise today. A title page tells you which book you are holding. By means of page numbers you may refer to specific passages. Printers have always looked for ways to further develop the book.
This is similar to what is happening with the social media today. About twenty-five years ago, the world wide web started as text with hyperlinks. Now the internet is an interactive multimedia platform to which everyone has access. The potential for new applications seems endless.
