At the end of the prologue, this book explicitly addresses youngsters. This is rather exceptional: printers did not usually point out target audiences. They wanted to sell as many books as possible to as many people as possible. This tale originates in France and is about the relationship between Islam and Christianity. It takes place at the court of an Islamic king where a Muslim prince, Floris, and a Christian girl, Blancheflour, grow up together and fall in love. They meet with all sorts of obstructions, but in the end love conquers all.
